"Μonks, whatever family virtuous renunciants approach, the people there generate much merit on five grounds.
Which five?
Monks, whenever people see virtuous renunciants approach a family and gladden their minds, at that time, monks, that family is practicing the way conducive to heaven.
"Monks, whenever people rise, pay respect, and offer a seat to virtuous renunciants approaching a family, at that time, monks, that family is practicing the way conducive to birth in high families.
"Monks, whenever people remove the stain of stinginess toward virtuous renunciants approaching a family, at that time, monks, that family is practicing the way conducive to great influence.
"Monks, whenever people, according to their ability and strength, share what they have with virtuous renunciants approaching a family, at that time, monks, that family is practicing the way conducive to great wealth.
"Monks, whenever people interrogate virtuous renuciants approaching a family, ask questions, and listen to the Teaching, at that time, monks, that family is practicing the way conducive to great wisdom. "Μonks, whatever family virtuous renunciants approach, the people there generate much merit on these five grounds." The ninth.
